Common questions
- A conjugation looks wrong to me.
- Please tell me — include the verb, the tense and the pronoun. Every form in the app is generated by a conjugation engine and checked by an automated test suite, but French has a long tail and I would rather know.
- Which tenses does it cover?
- The seven simple tenses: présent de l'indicatif, imparfait de l'indicatif, passé simple, futur, conditionnel, présent du subjonctif and imparfait du subjonctif. Compound tenses are not included.
- Why is my round shorter than 20 questions?
- A round never asks the same question twice. A verb has only six persons per tense, so one verb in one tense is a six-question round. The home screen tells you the length before you start.
- What are the "Essential 60"?
- Pattern verbs, chosen so that knowing them unlocks the rest. Some model a whole regular family; others head a family of irregulars — learn prendre and apprendre, comprendre, surprendre and reprendre follow.
- Does the app need an internet connection?
- No. Everything works offline, and nothing ever leaves your device.
- Will my progress sync between devices?
- No. Scores and settings are stored only on the device you played on.
