How it works
A verb, a tense, a pronoun.
Four answers. One clock.
You’re shown a verb, a tense and a pronoun, and four possible conjugated forms. One is right. A round is up to twenty questions, scored by how many you get right — with ties broken by how long you took.
Hesitation costs you. So does looking up the translation. That’s the point: conjugation you have to stop and work out isn’t conjugation you can speak with.
Why conjugation
Every sentence you speak in French has a verb in it. You cannot say anything at all without conjugating — not a question, not an answer, not a complaint about the weather.
Vocabulary you can work around. Conjugation you cannot. Until the tenses are automatic, every sentence is a small calculation — and speaking stays slow.
That’s why verbAttack does one thing. Rather than sprinkling a little of everything, it takes the part that gates fluency and drills it to reflex.
What makes it different
The wrong answers teach
The three decoys are never random. They come from the same verb and are chosen to be genuinely confusable:
aurions vs avions
rient vs rirent
eut vs eût
Getting one wrong tells you exactly which distinction you haven’t got yet.
The Essential 60
Sixty pattern verbs, chosen so that knowing them unlocks the rest. Some model a whole regular family — parler, finir, vendre, and the spelling shifts of commencer, manger, acheter, appeler.
Others head a family of irregulars: learn prendre and you have apprendre, comprendre, surprendre and reprendre.
The tenses others skip
The passé simple and the imparfait du subjonctif are usually left out of conjugation apps — they’re the hardest to find and the hardest to drill.
Both are here, fully conjugated for all 715 verbs.

Every round ends with a per-tense breakdown and a review of what you missed, with the correct form beside your answer.
Best scores are kept separately for each combination, so a hard setup never flatters an easy one.
